It says:

HI MY NAME IS HUNGER GAMES FANDOM AND I LIKE SHITTING ON GALE JUST BECAUSE HE’S A REALISTIC CHARACTER WITH MORALS AND STRENGTH.

I kind of resent that. Way I see it, Katniss, Peeta, and Finnick have strong morals and strength. They’re all incredibly realistic, as well.

Gale, on the other hand, had he been left unchecked by Katniss, would have murdered everyone in the Peacekeeper training facility. He saw no issue with ripping civilian families in the districts apart because the Capitol did the same to him. Gale is a vengeful, violent man who was willing, even eager, to stoop to the Capitol’s level when the opportunity arose.

He was also consistently a dick to Katniss, actively trying to make her feel guilty for not reciprocating his romantic feelings even though he knew and acknowledged that she could not change that. Remember that time when he told her he was glad Peeta survived because if he hadn’t, he’d have no chance with her? That’s not “being open with your feelings.” That’s intentionally making her feel bad even though he knew it wouldn’t accomplish anything. That’s some kind of sadistic mind game that someone with morals would not attempt to play.

I don’t like to “shit on Gale,” but I am going to point out his major, gaping personal flaws. Gale is an asshole. I understand where he’s coming from, and I like him as a character, but if his masculine dominance mind games had worked out positively for him in the end, I would have written off the final book in disgust. Like, I liked reading about his role in the series, but personally? He’s a great big bag of dicks.

great. big. bag. of. dicks.

I am almost shocked at how much I agree with that. Like, I’m not one of those people who dislikes Gale because I love Peeta. I am not Gale’s biggest fan because of ^^those reasons, and those reasons alone. Morals? What kind of morals are we talking about? He didn’t really have any limitations when it came to being Gale the Revolutionary as opposed to Gale, Katniss’s Best Friend, and he certainly was horrible at telling when to put one of those Gales away and break out the other. He kind of walks with his nose up in the air because he’s so Dedicated To The Cause. And I realized that I felt this way the moment he said “Katniss will choose whoever she thinks she can’t survive without.” What kind of person says something like that about their best friend?

So yeah, I think Gale is a good character and the series is better off for having him in it. But I don’t think he deserves a pity party.
